Catahua tree

Updated: Nov 21, 2021

This plant teacher is known to be very strong and dangerous and requires a strict diet of the catahua plant for several months, otherwise the tree may kill the person. This tree offers the dieter to gain knowledge after a proper amount has been brought to a boil and sang (icaro) over. The icaro de la catahua is whistled before the singer enters dangerous waters for protection. Some waters harbor dangerous spirits that may try to kill a person through forces of nature or be swallowed up by a giant boa. 2
