Ayahuasca Vine

Updated: Nov 21, 2021

This ayahuasca vine is known as the plant mother or plant doctor, who enables mestizos to contact plant spirits as well as spirits of deceased people, minerals, and animals. This plant is prepared as a psychotropic drink, whose consumption is said to bring clarity to visions. When other plants are added to the brew, it brings those plant spirits and their icaros to the dieter. It is also important to note that individuals who have not undergone la dieta may not be contacted by plant spirits through visions, this is because their intestines are dirty and need cleansed. This plant teacher brings knowledge and power, it allows the mestizo to see past and future events, and gives insight on the natural environment and its flora and fauna. It is also said to be responsible for the artistic abilities of Amazonians, such as inspiring ornamental designs, utensils, body paintings, and aiding in memorization of myths, chants, and dances.2
